I have to be honest with you – I’m not that into Halloween. It’s not that I don’t like going out with friends and having fun, but the idea of putting together a costume to wear only for one night seems so time consuming to me. To be fair, I come from a country where Halloween is not as celebrated like here in the US – here people go all out. Back where I’m from, you put a mask or a devil headband and call it a day… or maybe it’s just me? I’m not sure. Anyways, because I always want to put the least amount of time and energy (& money) into a costume – here are 10 easy and affordable halloween costume ideas.
Olivia Rodrigo Sour Cover Art
This idea is so basic, but you’ll only spend about $12 on the stickers and maybe an hour putting them on your face. Lucky for you, I found the stickers from this Etsy seller!
Also, if you want to dress the part, all you need is a plaid skirt and a fuzzy top. I included some options below! Don’t forget to add silver jewelry and you’re ready to go!
Unicorn
Oh god, I can’t believe I actually added this photo for the whole internet to see. Digging through my Snapchat memories to get these photos was PAINFUL and so CRINGE, so you better appreciate it.
This costume is basic, I know. All I did was going to Party City and there I found the unicorn headband. I put on an all white outfit, put on some colorful eyeshadow, I’m a sorority girl so of course I also had to bathe myself with glitter, and that’s it. Oh, I also bought colorful hair spray to try and “dye” my hair – it had such an awful texture, but it didn’t stain my top and it completed the look! Another option is using the Moroccanoil Color Depositing Mask. It’s basically a hair mask you apply after washing your hair, you rinse it and the color stays for a few days or weeks and it vanishes slowly.

The Bachelorette
This is such an easy and cute costume. Just put on a maxi dress or gown, either red or black, buy some fake roses at Michael’s and act like it’s raining men.
Galaxy Girl
For this look, I bought a silver top and paired it with white jeans (don’t hate on me for the skinny jeans, it was 2017), or you can just wear a silver dress.
I did two mini buns on both sides of my head and bathed myself in glitter again to add some *spice*. I’m preaching saving time when dressing up for halloween, but I also have to mention how long it takes to get the glitter off. It took me WEEKS to clean my whole dorm, I’m pretty sure my roommate hated me at some point. And the guy I was dating at that time kept finding glitter in his whole house after that I slept over that night. So thread with caution when it comes to glitter.

PS. A LOT of these dresses are currently on sale! The I AM GIA maxi dress is only $46! Run don’t walk.

Whatever this is called… two slutty girls that almost got killed?
My friend Jennifer and I had completely forgotten to get a costume for a halloween social that day, so of course our best idea was to buy a XL white t-shirt, some fake blood, cut holes on the shirt, put boots on, a push-up bra and call it a day. And of course I had to put my fashion design major skills to work.
Did we walk across campus looking like that? Yes we did. Did we wear shorts underneath? I don’t remember, maybe? Do I regret it now? Yes I do. But I felt so badass that day.
So, if any of you want to dress up like this, the trick is to cut diagonally on the chest area, so your bra shows, and then keep making small random cuts. but don’t make too many to expose yourself even more… Also, I do recommend wearing shorts underneath and maybe you can also throw on a leather jacket in case it’s too cold. The fact that I didn’t get sick that week after wearing slutty costumes baffles me.
Sriracha Bottle
Literally wear an all red outfit and throw on a green beanie! If you want to take another step, purchase the siracha tee. It’s so cute!
Tourist
This is such a cute and effortless idea. Especially if you live in a big city like New York or los Angeles. Big bonus is that you’ll be comfortable af all night! All you need is a basic outfit or Hawaiian shirt, a fanny pack, a map, sunglasses and a hat.
Karen Smith from Mean Girls
“I’m a mouse, duh”
If you kept forgetting to get a costume and the party is tonight, this is literally the easiest thing you can wear. You only need a little black dress or black babydoll, which we all have, mouse ears and a pink ribbon (which is optional). That’s it!
Devil or Angel
The devil and angel are such an easy and affordable halloween costume ideas! They have been my go-to for years!
2016 College Girl
I think I’m doing myself dirty with this one. All you need is over the knee black boots, an oversized grey sweatshirt, a choker, a Starbucks drink and you’re ready. If you want to take an extra step, do your makeup 2016 style, with baking, harsh contour and give yourself a black eye, I mean smokey eye. Bonus points if your foundation is two shades lighter, if you’re wearing a high pony and if you use the dog filter on snapchat.
And that’s it. Those are all the ideas I’ve got for easy and affordable halloween costume ideas! If you have any other ones, comment below and I’ll add them!
