As the semester starts and exams, quizzes, assignments and other activities start rolling around, it gets harder and harder to stay organized. Being in college is hard and exhausting! It is so easy to lose track of all of the things going on around you, but here are a couple tips that’ll hopefully help you stay organized during those amazing yet stressful & overwhelming years!
Get a planner
I don’t know if I’d ever make it through college without a planer. I love mine and carry it with me all the time. I’m always writing down deadlines, exam dates, meetings and other important stuff, including errands. If you ever see my planer, you’d know everything I do on a daily basis. I also leave reminders for myself on my desk, on my cork board or even on my laptop using Post-it® Notes.
I’m normally pretty good at remembering stuff, but I’m also always forgetting something, which is why I use Post-it® Brand products to manage my time and keep me on track.
Use a Calendar
If you don’t like planners, an alternative is using a calendar to plan your week and staying organized. I have the Post-it® Super Sticky Full Stick Notes Weekly Wall Calendar and I’m definitely going to be using it this semester to make note of important deadlines and overall class – schedule!
Write To-Do lists
Writing to-do lists helps me to stay organized & on track. I make daily & weekly lists on my planner or using the Post-it® Super Sticky Lined Notes which are perfect for to-do lists or longer reminders. I honestly can’t t stress enough how important to-do lists are for being productive.
Be motivated
Being and staying motivated is key for staying organized and accomplishing your goals. Sometimes when we get overwhelmed and stressed we tend to lose focus. Keeping a list of your goals tacked up somewhere, whether it is in your room or as your phone screensaver, will remind you and hopefully help you stay motivated.
Schedule some me-time
Life gets busy and sometimes we just need time for ourselves. Whether it means meditating, working out or simply putting on a face mask while watching TV. Mental health is incredibly important, not only for staying organized, but to stay sane and be happy. Make sure you schedule some time each week for yourself.
Get enough sleep
I don’t know about you, but if I don’t get at least 7 hours of sleep, I get really cranky and can’t focus on anything. Sleep is so important and you should be getting from seven to nine hours of sleep on a daily basis, depending on your age and preferences.
Schedule chores
Everyone’s different, but if I don’t set time apart to do some chores, like doing laundry, taking out the trash and others, I keep putting it off. And before I know it, my laundry basket is overflowing and everything’s a mess! I started leaving Post-it® Notes by my door to remind myself to do laundry before leaving my room!
Maintain a tidy workspace
My mom always told me that your mind is as messy as your room or workspace. And that is so true, I find that when my room or workspace is messy, I feel distracted and my mind is just cluttered. Keeping an organized space is key for me to be able to focus and actually get things done.
Try color coding
There are so many ways to use color coding for staying organized. I color code my notebooks – every notebook is a different color with different colored Post-it® Flags making it easier to pack my bag for the day.
Plan your week/day
I’ve mentioned this on a couple blog posts before. I love planning my weeks on Sundays, that way I can have an overview of how busy my week is going to be like and I’m prepared for it.
Planning my day the night before, helps me be productive. I don’t know about you, but if I don’t plan my day, I don’t know what to do with myself and I’m super unproductive.
Using Post-it Notes to stay organized
I love using Post-it® Notes. I’ve used them all the way throughout high school and now into my college education (I’ll be a junior)! The Post-it® Brand products help me to get all of my organization done!
I use the Post-it® Flags in my notebooks and books to call-out important information. I also tend to write a keyword to make it easier for me to find what I’m looking for. Post-it® Flags are perfect for textbooks, especially when studying for finals. I always separate everything into sections and put a flag where I left off or where I need to study more. You can also use the Post-it® Page Markers for this.
The Post-it® Tabs are perfect to organize planners, binders and folders into sections. It’s been a while since I used a binder, but when I did, these tabs were essential!
I also have a Post-it® Pop-up Note Dispenser on my desk. I never really knew I needed it until I finally had it! Not only does it look cute, but it dispenses notes AND also holds pens and pencils!
If you have any other organizational tip, I’d love to hear so leave it in the comments below!
