That dreaded week that makes everyone freak out, aka hell week, is literally around the corner for me. It is probably the most stressful week and overwhelming week of the semester, which is why you need to always remember to take care of yourself first. So, here are a couple and simple ways to de-stress during finals week. These 5 ways won’t take up much time from your day, so that you can keep studying!
Work out
It doesn’t have to be a 2 hour long and comprehensive workout, it can just be a 20 minute run or just a half an hour workout. Working out distracts and energizes you, helping to relive stress. Which is exactly what you need during finals week. J
If you are not a fan of hitting the gym, just don’t think about it, put your gym clothes on, grab a bottle of water, grab your headphones and head out! If you wait you’ll start thinking how much you don’t like working out and will never go. Also, going to the gym doesn’t mean doing endless of squats and abs, you could take a class like zumba. Most colleges offer classes like yoga, Zumba and TRX, just check the schedule on their website.
Watch Netflix
If you’re studying and starting to feel overwhelmed, just watch an episode of your favorite show. BUT, you have to be cautious here and not dive in procrastination. Now, with the autoplay feature on Netflix, it is so easy to binge watch a show all night long.

Hang out with friends
Another way to de-stress during finals week is to hangout with friends. There’re two types of persons: those that study with friends, and those who don’t. Me, I always prefer to study alone, but that also means that I constantly forget I even have friends during this time of the semester. I just tend to isolate myself… While you hang out with friends you laugh a lot which is a huge stress reliever. So, go ahead and laugh away the pain finals week cause.
Take a nap
Sometimes, it seems that pulling an all nighter is the best way to survive finals week. And while it might be effective sometimes, it is also so unhealthy! And even if you’re not pulling all nighters, as college students, we somehow manage to be always sleep deprived. So, give your brain a rest from all that studying and take a nap.
Take a long hot shower
I can’t be the only one who thinks a long hot shower after a super long and busy day is the best thing ever. I could literally stay in there forever. They help me relax so much!
