We all know trends come and go. The spring/summer 2019 trends are very different from those of 2018, with neon, tie-dye and crochet all making a big comeback. Through the years, we’ve seen everything, from bold space-age metallics to classic and sophisticated monotones. Thing is, trends come and go all the time and it is hard to keep up with them. That’s why we need our go to’s. No matter your style, some staples are always fashionable. The are thousands of variations for these staple pieces and they can be worn in so many different ways! The very opposite of fast fashion. Let’s take a look at some of the style pieces that are worth investing in.
Jeans
The fun things about jeans is that they are worn throughout the entire year, in every season. And honestly, can you think of someone who doesn’t own a pair of jeans? Probably not.
Jeans are for sure a wardrobe piece that will never go out of style, even though they will vary in design, cut, color as trends come and go. In the early 2000s low rise jeans were a must-have, and now we just can’t image life without high-waisted jeans. The same goes with the colors, cuts and different characteristics that contribute to the whole design/style.
Also, by jeans I’m referring to black jeans, white jeans and regular denim jeans. And yes, white jeans can be worn throughout the entire year.
Basic Denim Jacket
Everyone has that denim jacket, they always wear for every occasion. A denim jacket is a wardrobe essential, because it is so versatile! You can always dress it up and dress it down, according to the occasion. And also, you can personalize yours by adding patches and giving it that vintage feel!
White T-Shirts
Another staple piece, are white T-shirts. Don’t even get me started about white T-shirts. I own at least 10, not even kidding. You can do anything with a plain white tee.
Even a halloween costume! A couple years ago, me and a friend literally bought 2 men white shirts and just ripped them and threw fake blood on them to make our halloween costume 1 hour before the party. No one knew what we were dressed as, neither did we, but it looked good! Even though the fake blood wasn’t dry yet and we ended up getting stained for at least 3 days…
The one I’m wearing in this picture is from Re/Done and its probably the best white shirt I’ve ever owned! It is so comfy and high quality!
LBD = little black dress
A little black dress can be your go-to for everything. Dressed up for a hot date, accessorized for a night out with the girls, and teamed with a smart blazer and shoes for that big interview. Most of us, however, have more than one. Short and strappy, longer and tailored, edgy fashion and daring, we’ve got a different black dress for every occasion.
An A-Line Skirt
An A-line skirt is effortlessly flattering! It tucks in where you want to emphasize your shape, but flows over anything that you’d rather hide. You can wear an A-line with a smart shirt or top for work, with heels and a cami for a date, or with sneakers and a tucked in t-shirt for a casual afternoon with friends.
A Trench Coat
My personal favorite type of coat! I basically live in my trench coat during fall and spring. They go with everything and can be worn for (almost) everything. I like to get mine a bit oversized, to throw in a thick sweater if it’s kinda cold.
Black Chelsea boots
These will never go out of style and are so easy to just throw on, no matter the outfit you’re wearing.
Hoop earrings
Remember what they say… “the bigger the hoop, the bigger the hoe”. I’m just kidding! But, hoop earrings are definitely my go to! I own at least 8 pairs of hoop earrings from all sizes and designs! When it comes to hoop earrings, I’d recommend investing on a good pair of gold ones, I know it is a bit expensive but, they will literally last forever.
Leather Jacket
I literally wear mine at least 3 times a week and love it! You can wear a leather jacket for every occasion and look like the badass babe you are ;).
I personally do not buy or wear any real leather, just because it makes me sad for the animals. I only do so, when the item I’m purchasing is second hand.
With that being said, I encourage you to get a (fake) leather jacket. I promise they look amazing and are from a great quality and last a long time with proper care! I got mine at Zara in Europe for about 80 euros, back in 2015. So, it is about 4 years old now and it still looks amazing!
