How I Styled Plaid for Cold Weather

This outfit was shot before I came to Florida. Fun fact: I used to dislike Florida’s weather, because it’s always too hot. BUT it’s so nice at the moment, since it’s technically winter here. Definitely an amazing break from the super cold weather.

Anyways, plaid is super trendy right now and it’s here to stay. When I first bought this skirt, I had no idea how to style it since it has the ruffles and also I didn’t know if it was actually my style. But I made it my style.

This is a girly, simply yet stylish outfit, you can wear for any occasion. Whether for dinner with your S.O. or friends, or for just a special occasion.

FYI – I couldn’t link this turtleneck, because it’s kinda old and I got it in Peru (It’s from alpaca wool), so I liked a similar one, same with the bag. Fun fact: the bag was from my mom and it’s super old… It’s amazing how long a leather bag can last.

I think that the best way to style an outfit including plaid or any pattern really, is to keep it simple. Remember: less is more. I wanted the plaid skirt to be the main focus, so I paired it with neutral colors and pieces that don’t have any patterns on them. Even the bag is neutral and simple. Same with jewelry, it’s simple. Accessories can make or break an outfit. A cute layered necklace would look great with this look, though.

I always go a size up, when looking for coats, since it allows me to layer and wear thick sweater underneath.

My shoedazzle family sent these OTK boots too me a couple months ago and now I can’t live without them. I literally live in these boots during the winter. They’re are SO comfy, I could literally run around with them for an entire day without feeling tired and having my feet hurt. They also aren’t too tight and allow me to wear thick pants underneath.
