A couple years ago I found SheIn and I thought it was too good to be truth. I was very hesitant to order from them, because I obviously didn’t want to be scammed. So, I started googling about them, looking for reviews that weren’t on their website, watch youtube try-on hauls and all of that. I made my mind and decided to place my first order. I got a couple items just to try it out. And I’ve had good experiences so far, with the exception of a couple times when I had to return some things. Anyways, on this post you can find an honest review as well as a shopping guide & tips.
For full disclosure, I work with SheIn as an influencer on my Instagram page. However, my opinions are a 100% mine and I’m not getting paid to write anything on here. I would never recommend a brand I don’t like and there’s nothing more valuable to me than your trust!
Also, I’m wearing SheIn in all of the photos in this blog post.
About SheIn
SheIn sells really affordable & trendy clothes, shoes, bags, jewelry and home decor. They even have a a men’s, plus size and a children’s line. Which makes it the perfect place to buy trendy items. Trends come and go and it can get really expensive to buy those trendy items in other stores like Zara, Urban Outfitters or others. With that being said, you obviously cannot expect the best quality for the price you’re paying and sometimes it can be a hit or miss. BUT, sometimes you might get lucky and find a basic good quality items that you can get a bunch of wears out of!
To give you an idea of how affordable it is, the other day I purchased 5 tops (just simple tank tops) and a basic skirt for under $40, with the shipping fee included!
Anyways, here is a shopping guide and some tips to help you navigate on SheIn!
Save even more money
Every time you purchase something you accumulate points that can be redeemed on your next purchase. You can also earn points by writing reviews and uploading images. It is not a lot, but it is something – I think 100 points equal $1.
Also, you can always find discount codes from bloggers or influencers, it usually isn’t more than just 15%, but again that’s better than nothing! Here’s my code: T2sofiasolisb!
And most of the time they have promotions going on, like $20 off $60 or so.
Know what type of clothes you want to buy before getting on SheIn
SheIn is a huge company that ships worldwide. They carry thousands of items which makes it very easy to get overwhelmed , side tracked and end up with a thousand of tabs open. So, before going on the site, think about what you want to buy. Maybe there’s a trend you’ve had your eye on for a while? Maybe you saw an influencer wearing a cute outfit and you want to find something similar?
Watch Youtube Hauls
If you’re hesitant on whether to purchase from SheIn or not, hop onto youtube and watch some try-on hauls! Not only you’ll be able to see the items in movement and have a better idea of how they fit, but also you’ll hear that persons personal experience with the brand.
Always read the reviews
As mentioned before, SheIn can be a hit or miss, so it is very important to always read the reviews! This will help you find out how the items fit, the quality, the sizing and the colors. Sometimes the colors look different on the website than in real life – this has definitely happened to me. It wasn’t a huge difference, but I’d like to have know before purchasing the item. I also try to stay away from items with no reviews. But once in a while I take the risk to order something with no reviews and haven’t had any bad experiences yet.
Check the compostition
This is another quick tip I have. I’m a fashion student, so I know a fair amount about fabrics. And don’t worry if you don’t, because there is another easier way to know how stretchy the item is. Under description, at the very bottom it says how stretchy the item is. Check the screenshot below!
I’m usually a size Medium, but like my tank tops to fit tight and I always order them on a size Small. But, I also make sure they’re stretchy enough to fit me just right!
Look at the style gallery
When you’re viewing an item there is a Style Gallery on the site. It’s mainly photos from people who have bought the item and uploaded their photo. It’s a good way to see how the item fits and look in a person that’s not a model.
Look at the measurements & size guide
I cannot stress enough how important this is! SheIn is all over the place – I usually wear a medium size and sometimes it might fit like a small or be too big for me. All of the items on SheIn have different sizes. Take your measurements and always check the size guide.
Shipping
Items on SheIn take a long time to ship, since they’re coming from China. It can take from 1 to 2 weeks. So, if you’re purchasing something for an event, take that into consideration, as well as, the fact that the item might not fit right or look like you expected.
With that being said, they offer express shipping for purchases over $100. And standard shipping is about $4.
Packaging
I have both good and bad opinions about SheIn’s packaging. Each item is packed individually in its own zip lock bag. Which yeah looks nice, BUT it is SO wasteful. They sell thousands of items a day maybe even every hour and they pack each item?! But then again SheIn is all about fast fashion…
Please, please reuse those bags! Maybe as a dust bag for your handbags, or to put away your winter clothes during summer. Maybe even to put away your nice dresses with sequins?
Quality
Is the quality good or not? I would say it is fair quality for the price point. Some items are a very good quality for the price point, though! Like the sweatpants below. I’ve been disappointed by the quality more than just a couple times. And sometimes, the items look lower quality than what they appeared on the website.
It is said that SheIn is perfect for only trends and to only wear the items a couple times. And while that’s fair since the quality isn’t the best. I’ve managed to find some hidden gems that were good quality and I’ve gotten a lot of wears out of! Maybe they’ll won’t last a lifetime but I definitely did get my money’s worth. You just need to know how to look for these hidden gems. Below are a couple items I was actually surprised by, because the quality was so much better than expected!
Also, yes, I’m an influencer but no I don’t buy things to only wear them for Instagram. I like wearing my outfits more than a couple times. And I am into sustainability but at the same time I’m a college student and simply can’t afford to pay $200 for a basic dress at Reformation.
Returns
SheIn accepts returns within 30 days, however there are some items that cannot be returned such as lingerie, jewelry, swimwear, etc. SheIn also covers the return fee which is amazing!
Bad experiences I’ve had
I got this blazer and it wasn’t like I expected. Unfortunately, I don’t have any pictures. But, this set looked extremely cheap, the material was very rough and I hated it.
Also all the reviews were good. They said it was high quality and cute. Maybe I’m the problem?
I also got this knitted asymmetric top, which looked awful on me! And it was also very thin, see-through and so low quality. It pilled almost instantly after wearing it and it looked like something my mom could knit and she doesn’t know how to knit!
Hope these tips help you! And check out the fashion section of this blogs for more style tips! Also, feel free to subscribe by leaving your email below! I pinky promise not to spam – you’ll only get an email when a blog post is posted.
