A lot has been going on lately… and I hope you and your loved ones are staying safe and healthy. Since most of us are going to be in quarantine for the next few weeks, I thought I’d put together a list of things to do while in quarantine!
Personally, I’m enjoying quarantine. I’m an introvert, and staying at home being socially acceptable is a dream come true. I’m trapped in Florida with my sister & my brother-in-law. So, I do get some social interaction and that’s probably one of the reasons why I’m not going crazy… yet. At first I felt like my life was on pause. I was working on social media campaigns, which got canceled, then all of the events I was invited to got postponed and classes were put on hold. But, then, I decided to focus on the positive things. One of them being that now I get to focus on my other interests – like this blog and social media. If you think about it – we are probably never going to self-quarantine and have so much more time on our hands again.
I know not everyone is lucky enough to have a house to quarantine at, or to be able to afford to not work, so let’s all be grateful about those little things we usually take for granted and let’s take advantage of that extra time we have.
Read a book
Now more than ever is the time to read all of those books that were too long and that you didn’t have time to read.
You can get books from your favorite online bookstore or from amazon!
The only type of books I’m interested in are biographies or about self-development or finance. I know, I’m weird. But romance or novels just bore me… I’m putting together a list of all the books I plan to read by the end of the year. Leave your email below so that you get an email once I post the article!
Journal
Journaling is a way of practicing self-reflection and it can be quite relaxing. Read more about journaling here.
I’ve personally never tried it. But I did use to have a diary, where I would write about all my adventures since I was 15. It’s more like a scrapbook, since I also liked to put pictures in it. I liked the idea of writing down all of those memories and read it when I’m old. It’d also be fun to show it to my future grandkids.
Binge watch a show
I have a list of 40 Netflix shows and over 50 Hulu shows to binge watch! Check them out and click here to pin! You can also download them below.
Reread an old book or rewatch a TV show
I’m rewatching Sex & the City and my sister is rewatching Gossip Girl!
Start a blog
I actually started this blog almost 3 years ago because I was bored. I had just moved to Kentucky and I didn’t know anyone. I was dying of boredom, so I did my research, purchased my domain name and here we are 3 years after! Click here to read more about how to start a blog!

Treat yourself & your skin
Now you have the time to do all the face masks you want, to try that 10-step skincare routine & to try out new products! Click here for my favorite face masks under $20, and here for all of my beauty-related posts.
Try a beauty trend
The other day I was scrolling through Instagram and saw my friend Kelly posted an article about beauty trends to try during quarantine! Click here to read! I might try the no-poo method and do tons of hair & face masks!
Download a dating app & swipe away
I’m what you might call a serial swiper. I’m always on dating apps just swiping but I never actually talk to anyone. And then I wonder why I’m single… Anyways, I’ll roast myself another day. I guess I just swipe because I’m bored?
But, It’d be fun to connect with strangers now that everyone is in quarantine. Because 1. everyone will reply since we all have more time. And 2. maybe after this whole situation is over you got yourself a hot date!
Text all your exes just in case you have one more thing you wanted to get off your chest
Okay I saw this on a USA Today article and I thought it was genius. You would pretty much have their undivided attention since they’re home doing nothing and there’s no way you’d have to see them or run into them in at least a month – which is plenty of time for you to get over them. So, just text him, we’re in the middle of a pandemic, who cares anymore?
Download Duo-lingo and teach yourself a new language
Okay, you probably won’t be fluent because I don’t think it is possible for someone to actually get fluent from an app like duo-lingo but it is a great way to get started!
I took french in high school for 3 year and everything I can say now (3 years after) is OUI. I’ve made it a goal to try and relearn french. While also learning Italian this semester because I’m supposed to study abroad in Italy next semester. Will that still happen? I have no idea but I still need a good grade so…
Do some art
Whether that is painting a canvas or just coloring a coloring book. It is a good way of relaxing and keeping yourself entertained. You can get canvases and supplies from Amazon! Also, for some inspiration or DIY art ideas, go to Pinterest!
I just purchased this coloring book from Amazon, it has animals sipping on cocktails which is super cute. And it comes with a bunch of cocktail recipes!
Meditate
I’ve started meditating recently and I’ve been loving it! The app Insight Timer helps a lot – they have guided meditation courses.
Play board games with your family
Sometimes it can be hard to get your family together because of work, school, etc. But playing a board game is so much fun and it’s a cute way to spend time with family.
Organize every corner in your house
Now you literally have no excuse not to have your place all organized. Declutter every drawer and donate things you don’t use/need anymore, while playing your favorite playlist.
Declutter your closet á la Marie Kondo
I’m currently working on a more detailed post on how to declutter your closet, so stay tuned! But to summarize everything, here’s the process I go through:
First, separate your closet by seasons. Then put aside the items you wear very often and can’t live without. You can keep the pieces you have worn recently. And the other ones that you haven’t worn in 3 or 6 months need to go. Try them on and if you think you can wear them within the next week, keep them. But if you don’t think you’ll wear it again, just donate it. Unless it’s your grandma’s wedding dress, it needs to go.
Bake Bake Bake
My sister has been baking like crazy for the last couple weeks. I think she’s just trying to fatten us up, but I don’t mind. Give me all the blondies, please & thank you.
FaceTime with your friends & check in on them
Check in on those friends who suffer from anxiety or depression. On those who have compromised immune systems. And of those you have’t heard from in a while.
Workout at home
I feel like this quarantine is turning me into a couch potato… So, a goal for me is to workout at least 5 times a day whether that means going for a run, trying out some workout I found on Pinterest, or trying out workouts posted on Instagram/Youtube. The goal is to sweat no matter what.
Make a vision board
I believe on the law of attraction and visualizing what you want is so powerful. You could dedicate different areas of your vision board to different aspects of your life you want to work on. You could use images from Pinterest or your own images on your board – it’s all up to you. Click here to read more about creating a vision board. Here’s another article about it!
Sit down & reflect on where do you want to be in 5, 10, 20 years from now
I guess this is correlated with the vision board. But use this time to reflect on where do you picture yourself in 5, 10, 20 years. The timeframe is totally up to you. But this exercise will help you to set big goals and small goals. And it’ll make you reflect on whether what you’re currently doing is going to help you get there. It’s always a good idea to stop and think about the long-term plan or bigger picture.
And make a plan with big and little steps on how you plan on getting there
Yup, setting goals is only half of the process. Now you need to work your way doing and set smaller goals for 1, 2, 12 months from now. How do you plan on achieving those big goals? Also think about what have you accomplished in the last year? What goals are you setting for yourself in the next year?
Take a bubble bath
Hot tip: add a glass or bottle of wine!
Try new recipes!
Look up recipes on Pinterest or actually use one of the cooking books you purchased a long time ago.
Try a different layout in your room or living room
Move things around and find the layout you like the most.
Get a puppy
If you’ve been thinking about getting a puppy for a while now, now it’s the time to do it. Because you’ll have extra time to train the puppy and to be with it!
Try a Pinterest DIY
It could be a total fail but who cares? It’ll be fun!
Declutter your makeup drawer
And throw away the expired makeup and skincare products.
Try new and bold makeup looks
If you end up looking like a colorful panda, it doesn’t matter because no one will see you. Take this time to perfect your makeup skills.
Delete unnecessary pics from your camera roll
Declutter your computer
Delete old files and pictures.
Make a list of things you’re grateful for
I’ve been doing a lot of reflecting and coming from a third world country I feel like we all take certain things for granted. Like having a home to quarantine at. Being able to afford food and other necessities. Just being able to complain about not going out anymore is a first world problem. During this pandemic, people in other countries don’t have a home, access to clean water or a hospital, they can’t afford food and most likely don’t get paid if they don’t show up for work.
Anyways, writing down all the things we’re grateful for is a reminder not to take things for granted,
Try a new fitness challenge
Whether that means to intermittent fast, to just drink more water or to workout everyday – it’s your choice!
Focus on your financial plan
And perfect it – research investing opportunities, etc.
Try dyeing your hair
But think about it twice. And don’t worry too much if it doesn’t look like how you expected it to look like. Everyone is in quarantine and no one will notice.
Get a puzzle
Apparently that is something everyone is doing.
Do Tik Tok videos
Literally everyone is on tik tok and it is soooo addicting. I might give it a try and make videos. I don’t know how to dance and I don’t think I’m funny, so you can expect fashion videos lol and maybe a dance or two. A little self promotion doesn’t hurt anyone so follow me on Tik Tok, my username is @sofiasolisbnyc.
Make a list of the museums, cafes or places you want to visit once they reopen
It is always nice to have something to look forward to. Especially when you’re feeling down and like this is never going to end.
Make a list of all the things you want to do once this situation is over
As mentioned before – it is always nice to have something to look forward to.
Teach your dog some new tricks
Donate money to food banks
This way you’ll support families struggling to get meals.
Sleep & relax
We’ll probably won’t get another chance to just stay home for weeks… So, enjoy this time, relax and focus on yourself. And get lots of sleep.
There you go, that’s over 40 times to do while in quarantine! Feel free to download or pin the list below. And if you have any other ides leave them in the comments.
