I found this on my drafts and thought I might as well post it. Late is better than never. So here it goes… After the semester ended and after the stress of finals week, my skin started to show some signs of my finals week bad habits. Aka, not sleeping enough, living on caffeine, not working out and not eating right. All of this things combined made my skin look just awful. I had some breakouts on my forehead, blackheads all over my nose and my skin just looked tired and kind of dull. So, I decided to give my skin a break and stopped wearing makeup for a bit longer than a week. I also started giving more attention to my skincare routine and here’s what happened.
Firsts things first, I don’t suffer from acne and I’m lucky to have relatively good skin. I usually take care of it and I consider myself a skincare junkie. But during finals week I get so stressed out that I simply stop caring about my skin altogether – it is just not a priority to me during finals week.
Also, I don’t wear a lot of makeup on a daily basis. I usually only wear a basic and natural makeup look – and try to avoid wearing foundation. But I do attend events at least twice a week and go out during the weekends and that is when I wear a full face of makeup.

During the week
During that week I didn’t apply any makeup, not even eyebrow powder or lipstick. I did my skincare routine religiously every morning and night. I also applied SPF every time I left the house. I did face masks twice that week and applied lip balm 24/7. I made sure to drink enough water and eat healthish. Healthish meaning I wouldn’t only eat salads but also not MCDonald’s every day. I had a good balance between healthy and not so healthy food.
Results
After I stopped wearing makeup for a week, my skin literally cleared up!! After I started caring more about skincare, my skin cleared up and started glowing. You could notice a significant difference! My skin looked a lot better!
The thing with makeup is that it can clog up your pores – which is why I avoid wearing foundation most of the time. I know that wearing makeup doesn’t mean you’ll have bad skin, but if you stop wearing makeup for a while and give your skin a break it’ll look so much better!
