I love taking pictures, but my favorite part is editing them. I could literally spend days editing pictures, playing with different filters, contrast, exposure, and other features, and I would never get bored. So, when VSCO X came up, I was so curious, and $20 a year isn’t really expensive, it’s like 4 Starbucks drinks, right? After 2 years the price may change, though. And no, there are no monthly subscriptions.
Getting started
With the paid subscription you have access to New Film X presets. There are new ones every single month and 100+ classic VSCO presets.
Right now you might be wondering what Film X is. Well, Film X presets are presets that include controls for strength, character, and warmth. Every time new presets are launched, they are automatically added to your library at no additional cost.
I literally use VSCO for every single photo I have on Instagram. So, feel free to go and check out my account and follow me if you like my content!
Is it truly worth the price?
As mentioned before, there are so many filters, that you may end up not using every single one. That’s why I would recommend purchasing the collections or series separately, but to decide which ones to buy, you could use the 1-month trial.
The prices for preset collections and series are between $0.99 and $3.99. This way, you would be spending way less than $20 and you’d actually be using all the filters you’re paying for.
Another feature I love is HSL, which allows you to change the tone of a specific color, but this only comes with the paid version. I’m not sure if you get it by buying some preset packs, but you could always check their website to find out!

I’ve had had this app for a few years and enjoy using it. What are your favorite filters?
Gayathri Lakshminarayanan says
I rarely use filters anymore. I used to download new apps only for their filter collections and on top of that, would buy more. Then I realized I was exactly doing what you felt, not even using most of them, or used just once. Of late I use only those that came with my stock camera app and that too sparingly
