This summer will be different, and while you might be staying home for most of it, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t look stylish while being quarantined. So, here are 7 summer fashion trends you don’t want to miss!
I’m scared to leave my home and I practice social distancing like my life depends on it. Oh wait – it kinda does! I know this post is about fashion, but please just practice social distancing and wear a mask. It isn’t that hard! I know quarantine sucks and wearing a mask makes it a bit hard to breathe. But is it worth it risking other people’s lives? Not really.

And no, hot girl summer isn’t cancelled, it is more like “hot girl summer: quarantine edition”.
Padded Shoulders
While working on a fashion forecasting project last semester, one thing I noticed a lot of, was the use of shoulder pads. They were everywhere – in blazers, tanks, vests and dresses. It is hard to picture shoulder pads, without thinking about those hideous 80’s suits. But, shoulder pads are here to stay and this time they look so much better!
The item with shoulder pads that is trending the most is a muscle tee with shoulder pads. i got mine from Lucuma Boutique and I’m in love with it! Shoulder pads are definitely an easy way to make your outfit look trendier and chic.
PS. I was given a discount code you can use at Lucuma Boutique – it is SofiaLover for 10% off!
Babydoll Dresses
Babydoll dresses have been slowly rising in popularity since the beginning of the year. The designer who made this design popular is Cecilie Bahnsen. She is a danish designer who focuses on femininity and her babydoll dresses retail for $600 & up. Back in April, Danielle Bernstein launcher her collection with Macy’s and included a babydoll dress in the collection. It is retailed at $58. So, you can definitely find this trend at various price points & it’s so adorable!
Bralettes
Another summer fashion trend are bralettes. I am absolutely obsessed with this trend. Bralettes were seen all over fashion week SS’20. And they can be worn in so many different ways. Below a blazer, cardigan or as a top, as part of a set – there are so many options! And there are so many different styles available.
Halter tops
These are so cute! I really like the ones with a ring in the center, but I’m always scared that if I make the wrong move, one of my boobs will come out and I’ll end flashing everyone. These tops are definitely worth the risk though! You can find so many cute halter tops for a very affordable price. I got mine from SHEIN for only $8.

Bandana Tops
This is hands down my favorite summer fashion trends, because it is so versatile & cute af. Thanks to Tik Tok now I know how to style a bandana 7 ways! And how to make it a tote bag! Also, you can find bandanas at every price point. I got mine from Amazon for only $9!
Quick tip: don’t buy a top that has a bandana pattern, just buy the bandana itself. You’ll end up saving some money and you can wear a bandana so many ways!
Bermuda shorts
Honestly, this is my least favorite of the summer fashion trends… bermuda shorts just don’t look good on me. Last summer, I was also not excited about the long jeans shorts. I would rather wear crocs… and I don’t say that lightly. Bermuda shorts just remind me of grandpas playing chess. Not what I expect to think about when talking about fashion.
But, it’s inevitable, Bermuda shorts are here to stay! The only type of Bermuda shorts I’m okay with are the Bermuda suit shorts. They are more structured and look more chic in my opinion. You can style the shorts with a tank top, a bralette, a sweater – there are so many options!
Linen
And the last trend of this summer fashion trends list is linen. Linen will be trending every summer. It is the best fabric to wear during those hot summer days to stay cool. And even if it wrinkles fast, I’ll be wearing it all summer long.
This summer, you can find literally anything available in linen. Before, you could only find classic pieces in linen. And now, you can find a wide variety of colors and trendy designs – you’ll definitely find something you love! One thing you should add to your closet asap is an oversized linen blazer!
