If you have been following me on Instagram, you know I’ve decided send a pickup line or pun to my tinder matches as a conversation starter! I just googled or came up with some funny pickup line or a pun and just sent them! Don’t worry guys, I kept it PG13… at least on Instagram! I’m posting here some conversation that weren’t so PG13 ;). Anyways, what started as fun as just fun made me realize a lot of things… But before that, just take a look at this screenshots!
Okay, I’m not going to post all the screenshots on here, because they are more than 10. BUT, if you wanna see all of them, you should definitely head to my Instagram and they’re in my TinderU highlight!
And now the not so PG13 ones… I didn’t post these ones on my Instagram so they’re exclusive for you guys!
Takeaway
I don’t know about you, but I normally just swipe on tinder, I don’t message my tinder matches if they don’t message me first and even if they do I normally never reply. I guess I’m on tinder more for just the fun of swiping than for actually getting to know someone and meeting them. So yeah, I decided to do this as a sort of project to see what would happen if I started off the conversation with a pickup line.
This is something I’ve never done before. So, this felt definitely different. I have to admit it was a little nerve-wracking at first. And I felt that starting the conversation with a pickup line was basically exposing myself to rejection and being made fun of. Even though I got nervous the first time, it was definitely a lot of fun. Actually, I wasn’t (directly) rejected. Some guys never replied but that’s okay! The ones that did, were flattered and it definitely lead to a more fun conversation.
After seeing what these guys replied, I definitely feel more confident. Not that I was self conscious or insecure before, but as I said before I was just nervous. Putting myself out there like that and seeing that these guys were interested, spiked my confidence! I was talking to them like I talked to friends I’ve known for a while. It was so much fun and I think I might be sending some opening lines like that more often.
I feel like (most of) us, girls, tend to wait for the guys to send us the first message, or ask us out first, or just make the first step, but we should start the conversation or ask them out first more often. I also noticed that the guys were a 100% more interested in talking to me when I started off the conversation with a pickup-line. Most of the guys I talked to told me a girl never sent them a pickup line before… So, yeah there’s that!
So, keep this in mind next time you match with someone on Tinder! Start off the conversation with something more interesting that just hey and put yourself out there and have fun!
