Youβre *almost* a college student! That is so exciting! Iβll be just a sophomore this school year but I know people arenβt lying when they say that college is the best part of your life (or at least one of the best parts of your life). My freshman year was amazing and I hope yours will too! Anyways, the first week of every semester is really important and the first week of college is even more important. So here are some is a list of 5 things you shouldnβt do your first week of college. And you should also read 5 Thins you should do your first week of college.
Hook up with a lot of guys
This is definitely something you shouldnβt do your first week of college. I get it, youβre finally in college and there are guys that have their shit together and that are (way) more mature than guys back in high school, but itβs your first week of college! Youβre new to college life so just wait until you get used to it.
And I know I always say that it shouldnβt be weird or awkward after a one night stand, but you donβt know these college guys and most importantly you just got to campus. What if the guy ends up being a j*rk and telling his friends all about it, or what if he has a bad reputation and you end up regretting itβ¦ Just think twice before you get intimate with a guy, especially during your first weeks in college.
Overdo it at the dining hall
Another thing you also shouldnβt do is eating too much at the dinning hall. Iβve been there, you might get excited about the food, because there are lots of it and you might want to try everything. Trying to resist dessert is so hard when there are different dessert right in front of you. But just remember that the Freshman 15 does exist! It happened to me and itβs literally the worst thing. So this is your opportunity to exerciseΓΒ self-control.ΓΒ Try to eat healthy at the dining hall, starting your first week so that you get used to it quicker.
Talk about people being their backs
Aside from hooking up with a lot of guys, this is another thing you shouldnβt do your first week of college. The first couple weeks or even months is all about making friends. And talking bad about someone behind their back isnβt going to get you far.
Also, avoid judging people for their appearance or for whatever reason. Just donβt judge someone if you donβt know them. Period.
Get too drunk
Letβs put it this way: the last thing you want to do your first week is getting way too drunk and doing something embarrassing in front of people you just met. Like puking or just talking without making any sense, you could say something really embarrassing or something you actually didnβt mean. Iβve had a couple friends talk sh*t about one of their friends when they were drunk, and it didnβt end up well. People just get crazy when they drink and if you want to do that, itβs okay. Thatβs part of the college experience. But Iβm sure you donβt want people to remember you as the girl that got way too drunk and puked all over. Iβm sure that you donβt want to have a bad reputation, at least not yet. So before getting drunk, think twice (at least just of the first week of college).
Also, maybe some of you donβt know their alcohol limit and that is okay. But finding out what your alcohol limit is, is something you shouldnβt do your first week of college. And if you do want to drink (a little) be careful with what you drink. And donβt underestimate the jungle juice and four lokos. *Spoiler alert* theyβre the worst.
Freak out
During your first week youβll go to class and read the syllabuses and youβll start realizing the amount of workload youβre going to have throughout the semester. And maybe after that, youβll start to freak out and feel overwhelmed. Just calm down. College is awesome, so donβt freak out about classes.
Iβve been there, during my first week, I felt overwhelmed because all of these dates kept being thrown at me. Like, when were some assignments due, quizzes every single week and exams and then club meetings. It is a lot to process ΓΒ and itβs totally normal to freak out a little. But just know that as the semester goes on, youβll learn how to manage your time and how to make everything work just fine. Youβll survive your freshman year, youβll do just fine.
